Early in our relationship I had notice an emotional irregularity, an instability that caused concern, but rather than have conversations about my concerns she would avoid answering direct questions, tell me stories about how she was abused and used in relationships.

I still wonder abut her motive in sharing this information. I think it was partially to prove that she had been affected by domestic violence and her former partner paid a steep price during their break up.

Mexico Trip, Money Stolen and the Emotional Whiplash

Click the image to link to the transcript that captures text conversations surrounding a planned birthday trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in early 2023. At first glance, the discussion appears to be about a vacation and the logistics of paying for it. Looking more closely, however, it illustrates a pattern of rapid emotional shifts that became common throughout our relationship.

These documents are included because they provide important context for behaviors that I later experienced myself. While every relationship is different and these records should be evaluated on their own merits, I was struck by how many of the dynamics described in the underlying allegations and correspondence resembled patterns that repeated during my own relationship.

As readers work through the timeline, they will see recurring themes that I believe are relevant to consider:

  • Conflicts that escalated rather than de-escalated.

  • Arguments that continued after one person attempted to leave.

  • Persistent verbal confrontation and emotional pressure.

  • Allegations that evolved over time or differed depending on the audience.

  • Relationships becoming intertwined with police reports, legal proceedings, institutional complaints, and public accusations.

  • A recurring narrative in which the other person was portrayed as the sole aggressor while conflicting evidence or context was disputed.

I am not presenting these documents as proof that separate relationships are identical, nor as evidence that every allegation made in either relationship should be viewed the same way. Rather, they are part of the broader chronology that helped me recognize what I perceived to be recurring patterns of conflict and interpersonal dynamics. Readers are encouraged to examine the source documents alongside the rest of the timeline and reach their own conclusions.

The conversations begin after we had already broken up. She dumped me the day after my son’s mother died. Despite that, Nita reached out asking if we could take the trip together because she wanted "one trip to work out." The conversation quickly became affectionate, expressing that she missed me and even making sexual comments about missing me physically. Within a matter of weeks, however, the tone changed dramatically.

Following another moment where she seems to force an argument, I was told to stop contacting her because my messages were "harassing" her and that she no longer wanted to see my texts. I didn’t send another tex until a few days later when she resumed communication, not to repair the relationship, but to demand payment for my share of the vacation, threatening legal action if I did not comply. When I explained that I still intended to go, apologized, and ultimately sent payment, the hostility disappeared. The conversation became warm again, discussing everyday life, future plans, and asking when we could see each other. Within days, we were spending time together again.

This sequence is included because it demonstrates a recurring pattern that appears throughout the timeline…Expressions of affection followed by abrupt rejection. Requests for no contact followed by renewed communication when something was wanted. Escalation to accusations or legal threats during conflict. A rapid return to warmth and intimacy once the immediate conflict was resolved. Conversations that shifted dramatically from one emotional extreme to another over a very short period of time.

These messages help illustrate the emotional volatility that I experienced repeatedly throughout the relationship. The importance of this transcript is not the Mexico trip itself, it is the way the interactions repeatedly swung between intimacy, rejection, financial conflict, and reconciliation in a matter of days, creating what felt like a continual emotional roller coaster, and how she manipulated the situation, only to take advantage of my both emotionally and financially.
